2004 Redsksin vs. Meigs Scrimmage

By Jeff McQueen

On Friday, August 13th, the Loudon Redskins traveled down to Jewell Field the home of the Meigs Co. Tigers to participate in the final scrimmage before the Loudon Jamboree and season opener vs. Walker Valley. The cool evening was uncharacteristic of mid August, but both football teams welcomed the fall-like weather.

Summary:

The scrimmage lasted for about three hours, with the 2’s going the last period. Your Redskins at times looked good on both sides of the ball. The “O” and “D” lines performed better as a unit. The Tigers broke several big plays, and the “Big Red Wall” a times seemed unable to stop the Meigs offensive momentum. #44 Mathew Packett made some noise on both sides of the ball. Freshman #42 Tyler Campbell continues to impress and get work with the varsity. The JV and freshmen did not allow a positive yardage play on defense and burned the young Tigers for two scores.

The Redskins will host the McMinn Co. Chargers this Friday (8-20) in the annual “Henry Blackburn Jamboree” at Dukes Field.
