The 2004 Annual Redskins Football Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 6:00 pm. The theme was “Loudon Nation”. The LHS cafeteria was the site of this special event, of course it was decorated in “Red and White”. Guests included Principal John Bartlett, Assistant Principal Cheri Parrish, and Athletic Director Bill “G” Thompson. Mr. Jim Roberts offered the invocation before everyone enjoyed a barbeque dinner complete with all the fixings, catered by the Curtis family. Booster Club members Pam McNew and Lori Everett were the banquet coordinators. Head coach Jeff Harig presided over the awards presentation.
But first, special guest
Carter Cardwell (LHS '77, jersey #10, played quarterback, and was a
member of the '74 & '75 State Championship Teams), representing
the Cardwell family, presented a plaque honoring his late father, Coach
Jim Cardwell. Coach Cardwell coached the Loudon Redskins for the 1955
and 1956 seasons. This plaque named the Loudon coaches office in the
field house box as the “James C. Cardwell Football Office”. Carter is
following in his fathers footsteps, and has coached at the high school
and college levels. “Coaches touch lives”, said Cardwell. The Cardwell
family will annually sponsor a member of the Loudon Coaching staff to
attend a coaching seminar or clinic of his choice.

Head Coach Jeff Harig
closed by praising this team for not giving up, and playing through
adversity on and off the field. “Don't judge this team on wins and losses”,
he continued. Making special mention of the loss of Jordan Hardin, Harig
said, “Jordan would have made a large contribution to our season, I
also miss his antics in the dressing room…he was a fine young man”.
Harig was also pleased by the defensive unit, he stated, “We didn't
always get it done offensively, but our defensive intensity provided
us a very high ranking statically in the region. We had a +7 takeaway
margin. With 10 interceptions, 12 fumble recoveries, and four blocked
kicks…that puts our offense back on the field.
Spring practice will start January 24, 2005.
