Loudon vs. Walker Valley - JV

While everyone else enjoyed the Labor Day holiday, the Loudon Redskin JV team traveled to Bradley Co. to labor down in the trenches against the Walker Valley JV team. This would soon become the “Super Bowl” of JV games? The JV Mustangs have not lost a game in the existence of their school. They scoffed at our arrival, almost down right dismissing us. A big mistake on their part. An animated Coach Brown got everyone fired up. We kicked off to them, and promptly sent them three and out. The first Quarter expired scoreless. #20 Mark “P” Harrison rushed three times for 24 yards, #24 Josh Hawkins had 27 yards on 3 tries, and #11 Jordan Hardin out ran everyone in route to a 44 yard touchdown. The extra point was booted by #57 Tyler Roberts, 7-0 ’Skins. We played bend but don’t break defense, and swapped punts. In a coverage breakdown, the Walker Valley receiver was able to get behind the secondary for a 51 yard TD. With the PAT it was 7-7 at the half. The JV ’Skins managed a score on a quarterback keeper. #16 Brandon Monger took it in from the nine yard line (the PAT was no good). After three, the scope was 13-7 Big Red! About this time the Mustang coaching staff didn’t like the way being behind tasted. A long drive in the fourth stanza put WV up 14-13. A nice kick off return by #24 Josh Hawkins of 54 yards put Loudon in business first and 10 on the 39 yard line. A couple on good plays later and Hawkins romped in from the nine yard line and posted the 2-pt. conversion himself. Late in the game, WV was back to pass, Mr. Josh Hawkins stepped in front of the intended receiver for a nice pick (INT). With a 24 yard return, the Big Red had a short field to pay dirt. We moved the ball down to the 10 yard line. On a nicely executed half-back pass by #11 Hardin, #21 Cory Fritts hauled in the aerial standing alone in the end zone. The stadium was kind of quite as the Mustang fans streamed out. In a Heartbreaker (for WV), LHS wins 27 to 14.
