This would be the fifth meeting between the two schools, and Loudon is still looking for their first victory. Although the ‘Skins were awarded a forfeit victory in 1997 (the Maves used an ineligible player), the scoreboard still read 35 to 7 Anderson County. Loudon kicked-off to the Maves to start the game. With their first drive stalled, Anderson Co. punted the ball back to the Redskins. On the first offensive play from scrimmage, #1 Patric Johnson tossed a halfback pass to #7 Chase Randolph for a 72 yard gain. First and ten Redskins. In short order #1 Johnson pounded in from the seven yard line. Touchdown Big Red! The clock showed 4:57 left in the first quarter. The PAT was added by #15 Yoni Espinoza. #1 Johnson was the East Tennessee offense player of the week last week for his performance against Walker Valley (13 carries for 197 yards, two TD’s rushing & a 22 yd TD reception). The Mavericks keyed on Johnson, shutting him down to the tune of 11 carries for 33 yards and (1) touchdown. AC also keyed on #80 Josh McQueen; the crack-back blocks thrown by McQueen were instrumental in Johnson’s success last week. The rest of the half was all Maves; they put up three rushing touchdowns to lead 21 to seven at the half. The 'Skins got a good kick-off return of 53 yards from #33 Jake Brantley to open the second half. First and ten Redskins from the AC forty-three yard line. On a blast up the middle, #44 Mathew Packett took it to the end zone from 36 yards out (PAT by Espinoza). With 9:11 left in the third period, it's now 21 to 14. The Redskins tried to make a game out of it; however Anderson Co. added two touchdowns to put the game out of reach. Next Friday, the Redskins (1-1) travel to Madisonville to take on the Sequoyah Chiefs (2-1), game time is 7:30pm.
