Scoring Summary
  1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
Loudon 6 0 8 8 22
Opponent 0 0 8 0 8
The Mustangs won the toss and choose to start the game on defense. The Riceville Cutters got a good kick off return of 25 yards, and started first and 10 on the Loudon 32 yard line. After a couple of plays, the pressure, in your face Mustang defense did what they do best; clamped down on the ball carrier, forcing a fumble. Who came up with that loose ball? Big #55 Cody Crass that’s who! Your Mustangs wasted little time in converting that turnover into points. #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons, on a called quarterback sweep, went the distance untouched for a 70 yard touchdown (conversion failed). On the ensuing kick off, the Rice return specialist was hammered by #31 Noah Maples for a -15 yard return. Both defenses held serve for the remainder of the first half. #54 Luke Newman recovered a fumble, and the W’cats intercepted a pass. The score at the intermission was six to zip, Loudon Mustangs.

The Wildcats were set to kick off for the second half. They stole a play from our play book, and recovered the on sides kick. But to no avail, a couple on plays later #7 Eric Newman intercepts an errant Rice aerial, first and 10 Big Red! Starting on the 31 yard line, the ‘Stangs needed just six plays to reach the goal line, and score. #22 Nick Brown posted the points on a 49 yard scamper, he also added the 2-pt. conversion. That was the second turn over that Loudon had converted into points. #66 Hayden “The Duck” Cash kicked deep, Rice got a 45 yard kick off return, and scored in short order. The third stanza came to a close with the score 14 to 8, Loudon. Brown put the game out of reach mid-way through the fourth period with a 20 yard burst, and added the extra points himself. Except for that lapse on the kick off return, which set up the short field score for Rice, your Mustangs defense throttled the Wildcats. Turnovers plagued Riceville, they gave up two fumbles and two interceptions. In a thriller, your Loudon Mustangs come out on top, 22 to 8. The ‘Stangs posted 30 rushes for 253 yards, three touchdowns, and two 2-pt. conversions on the day. QB Plemons threw an interception.
