Week 2, and the Loudon Quarterback Club teams caravanned to McMinn Co. High School, where the Athens Jr. Cherokees hosted the games. The sun was scorching hot, but the Loudon Quarterback Club teams were HOTTER! We took four (4) more Big Ones, running our total to eight (8) wins vs. zero losses. We travel to Greenback (Greenback’s record is 7-1) next Saturday (9-4-2004), first game at 3:00 pm.

The Indians won the toss and wanted the ball. The short kick was fielded by #45 Jordan Purdy, he advanced the ball for seven yards. First and ten, Indians, ball on the 46 yard line. The first rushing play grubbed out only one yard. The next offensive play was busted for 54 yards and a touchdown! #45 Jordan Purdy easily out distanced the crowd on that touchdown romp. The conversion points were put up by #34 David Lee “The Dozer” Haskins. It looked easy at this point, but a hard fought game lay ahead. That score would hold up until late in the third stanza, when Athens scored from 15 yards out. It didn’t seem like a big deal at the time; however it proved crucial in preserving the victory. First year football player #81 Ryan Brennen, playing safety, broke up the 2-pt. conversion pass attempt! Now late in the final period, Athens was driving toward pay dirt. Was our Indian defense up to the challenge? You bet! A ferocious pass rush greeted the Athens QB. He was hurried, knocked down, and sacked. #75 Jason Terry, #53 Eric Lawson, and Haskins spearheaded the attack. QB, #30 Tyler Barr took a knee twice and that was it. The Indians rushed for 107 yards on 22 attempts, one touchdown, and one 2-pt. conversion.

The offensive player of the Game was: #30 Tyler Barr. The defensive player of the Game was: #44 Caleb Giles. The MVP of the Game was: #30 Tyler Barr
