On Friday August 12, 2005 the Loudon Redskins hosted the 12th annual “Henry Blackburn Memorial Jamboree”. This event has grown every year and now 10 teams participate. Cheerleaders compete in several events and there is also a punt, pass, & kick competition plus foot races as well. Listed below are the match-ups, plus the scores:

Quarter 1: Polk Co. 13 Midway 7
Quarter 2: Walker Valley 7 Meigs Co. 7
Quarter 3: Sweetwater 6 McMinn Central 0
Quarter 4: Lenoir City 21 Sequoyah 0
Quarter 5: Loudon 21 Tellico 0

The Redskins started on offense and were off to an auspicious start? Not quite. In fact #24 Josh Hawkins was stuffed on the first play from scrimmage for a -6 yard loss. The second play wasn’t any better – an incomplete pass. On third and 16, #4 Cody Fritts dropped back to pass, drawing the defense in and dropped a flair pass off to Hawkins. 75 yards later the Redskins had earned their first of three scores on the evening.

Tellico started on the 30 yard line. On the first play, #81 Daniel Laughlin, hammered the ball carrier for a -10 yard loss! On the next play #53 Jimmy McQueen knifed through to tally a stop for no gain. The Bears ended up punting. It only took #8 Tyler Campbell two plays to transport the football 50 yards for the Redskins second score, a 35 yard jaunt. Back on offense, Tellico was on the move…six plays earned two first downs, and then disaster struck. On a hustle play, #53 Jimmy McQueen pounced on the loose pigskin. First and 10, Redskins! In comes lefty quarterback #15 Blake McNew, a sophomore. McNew slips out a little pass to #87 Wiley Brakebill, who starts wide, reverses his field and runs at least 75 yards for a 23 yard gain! It was an exciting play. #7 Mark Harrison hauls in a McNew pass and trucks in for a 36 yard touchdown! That would do it, final score Redskins 21, Tellico Bears - 0.
