There is nothing unlucky about Friday the 13th
for Loudon.
The Redskins (6-2) put it all together Friday evening
at Oliver Springs, combining an explosive offensive arsenal with a stout
defense resulting in a 60-0 decision over the hapless Bobcats.
The play of the game came on the third quarter kickoff
when the Redskins Bobby Russell ran 99 yards for a touchdown. Brandon
Johnson added the point after to give Loudon a 54-0 lead.
The game started with Loudon’s defense holding Oliver
Springs to a three and out with the special teams following suit as Jeremy
Johnson blocked the Bobcat punt and recovered it at the 31 yardline of
Oliver Springs.
The Redskins opened their first drive with Blake McNew
finding Wiley Brakebill for a 13-yard completion. From there it was all
Josh Hawkins as he was able to take the ball in from eight yards out.
Loudon went for the two-point conversion and Tyler Campbell rushed in to
make the score 8-0.
Oliver Springs still couldn’t deal with the Redskins
powerful defense and was forced to punt once again.
Campbell was back deep for Loudon and took the Bobcat
punt 56 yards to pay dirt. Tom Cruz added the point after and the Redskins
were up 15-0.
The dominant defense of Loudon was back on the field
and on second and seven C.J. Pointer fumbled for Oliver Springs and Campbell
was there to recover and ran it back 10 yards for the score. Cruz’s PAT was
good and Loudon was in control by 22.
Following another Bobcat punt, Hawkins ran the ball 15
yards to pick up a first down. McNew found Brakebill for the completion but
the measurement found Loudon short. Campbell took the handoff on the next
play and Loudon had another first down at the Bobcat 32. After a personal
foul on the Redskins, McNew found Campbell for a 27 yard TD. Cruz once
again added the PAT and Loudon was up 29-0 to start the second quarter.
Oliver Springs went back on offense and it didn’t last
long as Ben Curtis came up with an interception for the Redskins.
Hawkins capped off the drive with a 33-yard touchdown.
Cruz added the extra point and the Redskins had a commanding 36-0 lead.
The Bobcat offense wasn’t moving the ball against
Loudon’s defense and were once again held at a three and out.
Loudon took the ball at the 47-yard line and Campbell
got the call, making it to the one before McNew crossed the goal line on the
quarterback sneak. The point after was no good, but the Redskins continued
to builds on their lead.
Jake Kleinschmidt recovered a Bobcat fumble on the next
series.
The Redskins looked to Tyler Barr on the ensuing drive
to give Loudon a first down and set up a 25 yard touchdown strike from
Johnson to Cruz.
Following Russell’s kickoff return, the Bobcats got the
ball back but it wasn’t long before Loudon took it away as Cruz collected
another fumble for the Redskins’ defense.
Loudon once again went to Barr and Cruz on offense and
on second and goal from the two, Barr took the ball into the endzone.
Loudon had the lead 60-0.
The final 5:50 of the third quarter was played out with
each team trading possessions.
Loudon’s defense held Oliver Springs in check in the
fourth quarter and kept a goose egg on the board as the Redskins got the win
60-0.
Loudon will be back in action Friday when the Redskins
travel to Wartburg.
